Dear DU community members, 听

I want to take a moment and reflect on the progress we have achieved together this academic year. Thanks to the efforts of our exceptional students, faculty, and staff, we are building a future together through DU Forward, a strategic framework designed to continuously improve this university. 听

A key component of DU Forward is the funding of 19 projects conceived and driven by staff and faculty members. This week, I鈥檇 like to share more about the campus initiative, 鈥淓levating Community Service as Central to Students鈥 4D Experience.鈥 听

This DU Forward project encourages students to participate in public service and make a positive difference in the world. This work advances our 4D Experience by helping students develop their character, build critical skills, think beyond their comfort zones, and expand their networks. It aims to more effectively connect all in our community to the incredible personal and societal value of volunteering and service, while showcasing existing experiences on campus. An important aspect involves centralizing community service and volunteer opportunities across DU, such as the Food Pantry, the Care Closet, and Swipe Out Hunger among other resources. The project's goals go beyond internal opportunities鈥攊t also plans to strengthen partnerships with Denver-based nonprofit organizations, which can help our students for future career opportunities.

If you wish to learn more about community service opportunities on campus, , and DU staff will assist you. 听

Looking ahead, there are a few exciting events to look forward to, and I hope that students, faculty, staff, and families can join us:

Save the Date: A Week Dedicated to Service听

In alignment with National Volunteer Week, Earth Day, and Family Weekend, DU will host Days 4Denver and associated events from April 20-26. The week will feature a series of volunteer opportunities, and a formal call for participation will be shared soon. Stay tuned for additional details, including volunteer sign-ups and featured partner organizations.

DU Move-out Collection Drive听

Every year, when students move out from campus housing, many try to avoid wasting unwanted items. DU will host a Move-out Collection Drive toward the end of the spring quarter, which is co-sponsored by units across campus including those working in sustainability, Undergraduate Student Government, Housing & Residential Education, and the Basic Needs Collaborative. This event builds on our green campus sustainability initiatives while helping individuals in need.

I look forward to seeing you all at future volunteer events. 听
