Meet with Academic Advising

All incoming students receive dedicated support for first-quarter course selection from our Academic Advisors in the .

Beginning the week of July 6th, 2026 you’ll have opportunities to participate in virtual group advising sessions and individual meetings with an Academic Advisor. We’re here to ensure you start your journey at DU with confidence and excitement!

In early August, our Academic Advisors will review your Autumn/Fall Quarter schedule. If there are any concerns or adjustments needed, they will reach out to you via your DU email.

After you register for your FSEM and other classes, you will be assigned an Academic Advisor for in-depth discussions about your academic plan. Academic Advisors are paired with FSEM classes.Ìý

New Student Registration for Autumn Quarter 2026 will take place from July 20th - 24th. Our Academic Advisors are excited to meet with you and ensure you’re ready to succeed.Ìý

Required Actions before Meeting with Academic Advising:

  • Complete Discoveries Fall Experience - Academic Advising & Student Success Canvas Module

    The Canvas module (module 2) includes important information about the Common Curriculum, Academic Advising, and registration preparation. Allow at least 2 hours to complete this module. Taking your time with this module will set you up for success at DU!

  • Take theÌýLanguage Placement Test

    • Students who are continuing to study a language they started learning prior to DU take a placement test to determine their starting course level. Transfer students should speak with an Academic Advisor if they have transfer language credit and next steps.Ìý
    • Some degree programs are exempt from the language requirement which includes the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and all Engineering degree programs. Students with these declared degree types do not need to take the proficiency placement test.
    • Contact cwlc@du.edu for questions regarding your placement test results.Ìý
  • Review Math Advising Document (Business & STEM Majors)

    Math Advising DocumentÌý

    • Document includes recommended math pathways based on major requirements for Business and STEM Major Students.
    • Guidance using prior coursework, standardized test scores, and self-assessed readiness.
    • Non-business and non-STEM students should review AI-Natural Requirements for the Common Curriculum. We encourage you to watch the Common Curriculum video to learn more.
  • Review aÌýSample Course Plan

  • Verify we have Received your AP/IB Scores

    AP and IB results are received in large batches starting inÌýmid-July.ÌýIt can take a couple of weeks to process these scores and award the appropriate transfer credit.Ìý

    To verify you’ve received your transfer credits, please log in to My4D > Student tools widget > My Student Profile > Prior Education and Testing (left-hand side), where your scores are displayed.

    If you have not requested your scores, please see directions below:

    • Request that your AP Scores (if applicable)Ìýbe sent to DU through theÌýÌý(school code is 4842)Ìý
    • IB graduates (if applicable)Ìýrequest your transcripts be sent directly to 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ through theÌý.

  • Action 2: Attend a quick question drop in appointment (Optional)

    July 7th - July 24th (M-F) - join only after you have attended a small group session. Small group sessions begin on Tuesday, July 7th.Ìý

    9:00 -11:30 AM; 1:00 - 4:00 PM Mountain Time

    Virtual: Add yourself to virtual drop-ins through (you can only add yourself during the hours listed above). You MUST Log in to DU Success Hub in the top right hand corner before you can add yourself to the queue.Ìý

    NOTE: If you join the virtual queue, an advisor will email you when they are available to see you and you will have about five minutesÌýor so to join their Zoom room. Keep an eye on your DU email for this notification after you have joined the queue.
